OK, so I need your thoughts.
How many times have you bought a game, played it once, not really liked it that much, and never ever got it out again? Or is that just me? So, I've been thinking for a while about setting up a service where you can hire games. Kind of like a LoveFilm arrangement, but for games. Pay a monthly membership fee, and you get sent out a game of your choice. Send it back (intact!), and get the next one on your list sent out. There are some logistical issues - firstly sending games is more expensive than sending DVDs, so there would be a charge for the postage and packing. You would also need to be responsible for the game whilst in your care; so any lost or damaged pieces and its on you. I've not worked out the fine details of it, but would be very interested to see what people think of the idea. Would it be something you'd be interested in? Please let me know. |

I collect games and the idea of playing one and then having to send it back wouldn't work for me. I suppose I could then buy it but I'd add the cost of P&P and hiring to the game making it an expensive method of trialling it. Most games I can actually play/trial at my local hobby shop, thus avoiding the buy/play once scenario. Maybe it would work for isolated gamers.

I think its not a bad idea, obviously as you say the logistics / postage could prove an issue, but maybe the transfer could be tied up with events (if you are planning other ones like the BADGER day in Reading next month) - that way it would encourage people to attend and support those events, and reduce the cost for all parties. Also I would imagine as the events will be fairly well spaced, then it will give the recipient a chance to get a few goes in to determine if they like the game or not.

I like the idea, as there are lots of times a game has been billed as 'must have' and then after one play of it you quickly realise it isn't a must have for you.
I like the idea of pick up/drop offs at events to save on P & P, but if you share out the cost of P & P between your usual gaming group then it must work out quite cost effective anyway? Also, anything that frees up shelf space at home taken up by games that never get played can only be a good thing! |

I need to set up my site where when you click on a menu, it brings up another set of menus for that section. Like a site within a site. For example, click on a department and it has its own set of links to the articles that relate to that department. Can this be done?

That menu is hard coded. Youll have to ftp into your site and edit the source code unless the template displays the menu from a module. I would check with whoever you got the template from to get answers.

Pics of ETGs sister would be nice. I know Marlo has some good ones.
Also I love the new Live topic idea, but is it possible to have the whole forum to auto update? That way there is no need to refresh any pages. I dont know if you guys would like that idea or not, just a thought. |
